I have had bulimia for a little over five years now. My parents want to send me to Remuda Ranch in hopes that I can finally get the help I need and recover. The thing is, I know people who have been to Remuda for anorexia…but I don’t really know anyone who has been for bulimia and don’t know what to expect….can anyone help? Has anyone had experience at Remuda?
Please no mean answers…this is a really touchy subject and I want serious help and answers.
I am planning on doing IOP. The thing is if I choose Remuda I HAVE to commit because of money issues.
I don’t know much about Remuda Ranch, but any eating disorder treatment center should treat bulimia as well as anorexia, or any other eating disorder for that matter. My advice would be to STAY AWAY from any of the Renfrew treatment centers.
Are you planning on doing residential treatment (RTC)? Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)? Intensive Outpatient (IOP)? Make sure you feel comfortable with the amount of patients at the program (fewer is better!) as well as the therapist you’ll be working with. You should be receiving a mixture of 1 on 1 therapy, group therapy, dietitian counseling, psychiatry, and medical care. It’s also important that the other patients are motivated to recover. P.S. I’ve heard good things about Puente De Vida – it’s a treatment center in California, as well as Center for Change in Utah.
