I hear they make you get up to a BMI of 21 if you are hospitalized for anorexia. I think that is ridiculous. Why not just get them up to a BMI that isn’t anorexic? 21 is just insane. I’m 5’9" and that means they would put me up to 142. That’s insane. I used to eat whatever I wanted and I weighed 130. And I was perfectly healthy and looked fine.
The clinics aren’t helping either. If you ask me, relapse is a lot more likely because of this. If they made me get up to 142, when I am considered healthy at 125, I would leave the clinic motivated to lose weight.
It’s a question. The question is WHY the clinic think that’s the way to help them.
Like the others said, it’s not fair of you discourage people from seeking treatment. Please delete this.

Please delete this question. Just think what effect you could be having on someone who is very ill and considering treatment. You’re not helping.

Please delete this. I’m with Annie on this one. Keep your opinions to yourself and stop discouraging treatment of a deadly illness.

I agree with Annie. A bmi of 21 is perfect for a recovering anorexic, it’s even healthy for the avragw person. 142 is perfect even low for 5’9. Sorry but there are people who are considering help, and even if you are going to let all your dumb fasts and diets hurt you, others aren’t. This is a rant not a question. Delete please

tbf BMI is a rough guide for doctors. I agree it seems insane but i would like to think its in case they slip back into it they will notice before becoming underweight again, which can cause health problems.
also why are people saying delete this question, someones curious on the treatment so they asked on here to get answers (what this part of yahoo is used for.)
EDIT: even getting thumbs down for what im saying pathetic!

it isn’t not so much about the BMI as is that u are having a healthy life style. if u r discouraged from these things then u need 2 talk 2 someone and your probably not ready to get ready for a healthy life. do not completely hate these clinics they are really trying to help people like me and other ppl with eating disorders. please don’t b so judge mental towards getting help. its really hard 2 get help wen u suffer from eating disorders so going 2 a clinic gets u help even when u don’t want 2. relapse happen but not 4 every 1
