The Stockholm Solution – 35min. documentary

See full film here: www.booserver.com February 2005 Is a century of psychoanalysis completely wrong? Ever since Freud, eating disorders have been considered psychiatric ailments. A revolutionary theory has turned this on its head. A Stockholm clinic is asserting that diseases such as anorexia nervosa and bulimia are not psychiatric illnesses at all, which means they require radically different treatment. In defiance of conventional medicine, the clinic offers what may well be the World’s first ever cure.

Amen. I’ve kind of accepted it’s always going to be a part of my life.

  2. josie421 says:

Um, the girls still look to be starving to me…

  3. KennedyCorey says:

Really? I don’t know much about it. I’m glad you got better. Didn’t you ever get hungry? Like wouldn’t you stomach hurt when you have no food in it, or you just didnt feel it?

  4. sj2477 says:

KennedyCorey-To answer your question, in order to develop anorexia one has a genetic predisposition to it. People with Huntington’s or some cancers aren’t born with it, but with the genetic make up to possibly contract it in the future, same for anorexia.
The media has sadly warped people’s perception of the illness. It is a brain disorder not a vanity problem, I suffered for 5 years and was helped to recovery by Mandometer. I didn’t want to be ill but I couldn’t change w/ out lots of support.

i think they’re idea of teaching healthy living again is really good, because some clinics only focus on gaining weight. however, they are being naive if they think that eating disorders are purely physical

  6. dresssexyatmyfuneral says:

I went there, it did help, I’m not cured but it DID help.. I relapsed later but I must point out that it is not in an offensive manor that they speak of the disorder.
The staff are wonderful and I made lots of friends here,

  7. teaknees says:

Meowl, I think you can just be born with certain predispositions which may or may not result in the development of an eating disorder depending on your environment.

  8. FrkNans1 says:

Yeah, speaking on the behalf of others is very wise indeed. You have the indepth preception to make a statement about everybody who’s had an ed. Your eating disorder has clearly eaten your brains away.

  9. FrkNans1 says:

Ignorance is the source of all the worlds problems, and you are definitely contributing.

  10. KennedyCorey says:

I don’t get it. How can it be a genetic disease? Nobodies born with an eating disorder, it’s developed over time through social comparasions and seems to have alot to do with vanity and wanting to be something your not. That’s a state of mind thing isn’t it??

  11. scruthie says:

That’s really offensive and demeaning that they say it’s not a psychological disorder. Because it IS.

  12. Lawen78 says:

I got a cure of eating disorder, Instead of not eating, do the opposite. EAT.

    Free advice.

  13. dogmakarma says:

I never said that you can “get rid of an eating disorder completely.”

I don’t believe I mentioned anything about that actually.

However, ED’s are like alcoholism. You will always have an addiction to alcohol, but you have the choice not to give in. With Ed’s you will always have that “temptation” some days will be stronger than others, but you have the choice not to give in.

And sometimes the only way you can make those choices, is if others support you and thus make you stronger.

  14. AuthenticHippie says:

That’s not true.. You can’t ever get rid of an eating disorder completely, believe me.
You’ll carry it with you forever, the only thing you can do is suppress it enough to live a ‘healthy’ life.

  15. seriex5 says:

it´s about both things…….i can tell

  16. seriex5 says:

i need to go to that clinic!! does anybody knows the website link or something like that!!??

  17. seriex5 says:

vlada is thin by nature!! and gorgeous!!…….sneja as well…….her boobs are big….

  18. suspect899 says:

sluta snacka skit hur gammal är du 12?

  19. AuthenticHippie says:

This while most models really are naturally thin or just too young to have developed bodies yet. Most models are around the age of 14/16, you should dig deeper into the world of fashion and you’ll learn.

But I do agree that some have taken it too far, Snejana Onopka, Vlada Roslyakova, Anja Rubik etc.

Du kan inte skriva på Svenska ens, Lär dig svenska.

  21. ItsTheWooo says:

    I agree with this completely.

I can’t believe someone else knows this.

    This happened to me.

  22. saranewyork says:

I believe most eating disorders are developed by the so called modeling industry. Many girls want to be like a model and when they see the super thin models they want to copy it. Naturally there would not be as many anorexic people as there are today. It all starts with willing to loose so much weight that it eventually develops it into a psychological problem.

  23. dogmakarma says:

I believe that EDs are side effects to emotional stress. I think that Psychiatric help is needed, to find the underlying problem to help those suffering understand the reason why they feel they need that kind of control in their lives. If people don’t understand why they are afraid to eat, or gain wait, they won’t be able to “relearn how to eat”

  24. estedrawn says:

haha, that guy was al like: its as big as penicillin !! and whats more… Antibiotics!! haha

  25. DreamingAngel94 says:

there’s no “cure” to an eating disorder.. it’s a mental illnes..
