Why should YOU want to recover from an Eating Disorder?

Hello all. I apologise if I speak about myself a bit too much in this video, it’s just I only really have one ‘case study’ of recovery – my own. It is always difficult to generalise with such a personal illness, but I think many of the things I say can be applied to lots of people in the position of wanting to recover, but feeling ambivalent at the same time. I wish you all luck. If you would like more ED videos, please say – otherwise you’ll have to suffer more of my rambles! I love you all. x

Been watching your videos for quite a long time now, good to see you’ve recovered now :)

It’s weird how similar we are – I’m also doing another year of college because of my ED, although I’m not recovered still, even though it’s been around 4/5 years now. Good news is I’m in treatment at last :)

Hope you manage to carry on sticking to recovery, wish you all the best in finishing college too, I can’t wait for May when it will finally be over! :)

Hello, what do you do when you are surrounded by pizzas and fattening foods around you? because i hate it when I am following a diet and then i binge-eat and kill weeks of diets and exercising. Good luck and keep strong !!

    Thank you Lou for sharing!!

I think your videos have saved a lot of girls from eating disorders. You have made think of how I can help others. I am also a survivor of anorexia.

I am so glad that you survived this horrible disease and I know that you will succeed!!

Many well wishing s to you!!
    Best regards// My-malin

I think it’s good to talk about your personal experience. It would be cool if others that have recovered responded with video blogs!!! :-)

    Thank you! Thank you!
You have inspired me to move on with my life and not let my ED hold me back. Just yesterday, I felt the need for a relapse, but you have given me reassurance that this is not the life I want.

Thank you so much for this video!
As you know, I was the one to request it.
Before this video, I was only thinking of recovering but after you said to think about what your eating disorder holds you back from… that’s when it hit me. I want to recover now.
This past year I got accepted into a very prestigious math and science high school and had to decline the acceptance because of my eating disorder. I now want to apply again for next year!
Again, thank you Lou, you are a true inspiration.

thank you so much for this video. I only recently recovered and really appreciate that someone is in the same position as me. I’m constantly bombarded with images and ideas of ‘perfect’ people and it’s very difficult not to return to my bad habits… but now that I’m better I’m doing so much better at school and actually have a social life! Thanks for the encouragement and support. I truly admire your strength.

    Clare :)
