@grandampersand Guys, don’t spam flag what clearly isn’t spam (double-post not withstanding). Grand, well done. I *did* laugh myself to gasping on this one.

…let us, too, divest ourselves of shirts – what cumbersome things! – and of hair, the very hair that grows on top of heads. Let us divest ourselves of? our lowly state of clinging to our simple minded “not-looking-like-edward-norton-from-American History X”-nessand embrace the pastel floral wallpaper of freedom!

Let us divest ourselves of? our lowly state whereby we cling to such simple minded “not-looking-like-edward-norton-from-American History X”-ness and embrace the pastel floral wallpaper of power!

In your mind you can do no wrong. Just because you don’t know what wrong means does that mean it’s not real?

  6. 52blades says:

People like Sartre, Camus and Nietzsche make blood shoot out of my eyeballs. They spent a better portion of their lives in an attempt to illustrate that everything is completely meaningless.
If everything is objectively meaningless then it would be meaningless for one to affirm that everything is meaningless. Why do atheists constantly affirm that everything is objectively meaningless then act as if their arguments are meaningful?

Morality isn’t necessarily socially imposed. I divested myself of your mother.

  8. FlowCell says:

If I divested myself of theism, rejected agnosticism and accepted a godless universe, I’d divest myself of morality and become an amoralist.

I’d much rather live free enough to become what ever it is I desire then to be restricted by the red tape of morality.

Frankly, I love amorality, for it would be a world where I could do no wrong, for I would not know what “wrong” is.

  10. TheCarruths says:

Nietzsche contradicted his own positions often. If he had a single consistent message, it’s that those sorts of contradictions are less a problem than an assurance. Camus’ a bit more relevent here: there’s a reason I stuck in that quote at the end. Also: “only” nihlism? Why do we presume that nihlism is an end rather than a transitionary position?

  11. 3rdWorldCrusader says:

    LOL

Nietzsche “knew” (much less thought or defended or even implied..) that atheism would lead to nihilism when he himself repudiated nihilism whilst maintaining his own atheism?

  13. propheticchaos says:

Think about it… Atheism only leaves room for nihilism… Nietzsche knew it. Now you should know it

PS I can use divest too

lol. B-U-L-I-M-I-A nervosa is not forcefully puking up food. it’s the eating disorder which manifests the sufferer’s obsession with and rejection of food. bulimia nervosa also includes abusing laxatives and over exercising.

not really a good metaphor and i was mocking his misspelling.

  15. Decadanc says:

this reminds me of my a-morality school project :)

  16. sunstorm007 says:

Bulemia as in forcefully puking up food.

He’s using it as a metaphor for rejecting scocialized moral norms.

He’s mocking the idea of originality.

  23. blackmelody85 says:

Given,of course, that our human nature, the feelings, the curiosity, the pride and everything else you mentioned is preserved and not just thrown away as something useless and hindering.

  24. blackmelody85 says:

That, however, does not mean that,by being rational and realistic, you are automatically considered “non-human” and senseless, right?

  25. InfoJunkieHolland says:

let’s strike a rational balance between the observable and unseen, call the *unknowable* off limits and maintain current standards of evidence in science.

no one holds a trump card on the unknowable.
