blue cross and blue shield?

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

hi i was just wondering if anyone knows if blue cross and blue shield insurance cover residential center. i want to go to an axiety residential center because i have major anxiety and nothing has helped not medicine nor therapy??The place is called Remuda ranch

Most insurances will cover inpatient only in a crisis, where you are a danger to yourself or to others (i.e. suicidal, or injuring yourself, or starving yourself to death, having a strange drug reaction, etc). So I don’t think it will be covered. The residential center will know, though. Call them up & tell them your situation.

Is anybody else annoyed of anorexic people on yahoo answers?

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

I used to be anorexic, went to remuda ranch, now I LOVE LIFE!! Yahoo answers kinda kills it with all the stupid questions girls ask. I hate reading the whole "omg is 116 too much for a 5’4" person?? IM SO FAT!" It kinda makes me wanna go back, but never ever ever will i :)

get help and move on…can I get an amen??

As you probably know, people who have anorexia are obsessed with their weight. This is just a way for them to obsess about it, though I imagine many of them are wanna-rexics, but that’s an issue in it’s own right.

So Amen.

Remuda Ranch?

Has anyone ever gone there?
What was it like?
Were people nice?

Any other Treatment ( impatient for eating disorders)
Feel free to share! :)

Hey I was there last July (2006) through August. It was probably the best treatment center in my opinion, from being there and hearing from the girls about other centers. It was really nice (and should be…it’s really expensive), it’s a very relaxing environment. I was in the adult center so I don’t know if you would be there or if you’re a teen. Ours was set up like 3 houses (groups) of 16 girls. I had 3 other roommates. During the day we all stayed up at the main lodge, which has a tv and couches and we eat all the meals there. You get a schedule every week, with your daily appointments that include, therapy, group therapy (home group with 8 girls, 2 therapists), dietician, doctor, psychiatrist, equine :) art therapy, body image, rec, skills classes, nutrition class, and have a lot of freetime to relax and take care of yourself! It’s actually a lot like college (because of the schedule) and summer camp! Some parts were really fun and Yes the people were soooo nice, all the workers are Christian and it is Christian based although they do not force it on anyone. The girls were so awesome, I became very close to some of them and we still keep in touch now. I was overwhelmed when I first got there, it’s really really hard (the hardest thing I’ve ever done!) and really sucks sometimes but it helped me begin eating again and got me on track to recovery and I am soooo much better a year later! Email me if you want! I would love to hear your story. And I would be so happy for you if you got to go there!!!! :)
Also–don’t let the price discourage you….they help alot financially to make it affordable. And, this may not be an incentive for you but, the food is very good there. :) I was anorexic and it was hard to eat but the variety made it easier. The first couple of days you don’t get to pick your meals but then you do, and you always pick your snacks. Every meal/snack is monitored but there is a "priviledge" table at dinner where you can eat if you earn it and you’re not monitored. The therapists are also really really good! I dont’ know if you’re seeing one now but it really helps to have it consistenly for 6 weeks because it’s more intense. And you also have a family week, which is a lot of family therapy and then you can go out on pass with your family on the week end.
Ok I hope this is enough info. My email is sharon.cameron@yahoo.com.:)

Best/Most effective places for Eating Disorder Treatment?

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

I’ve been to Remuda Ranch in 2005 it was by far much better than a hospital setting.

I am now 19 years old and have to go back. I need help. I can not do it on my own, I have tried multiple times. I cant live with bulimia anymore it has taken over my life…

any advice? What places are the best?

( I also have no insurance. Which sucks. ) But I have began filing out some applications for programs that might possibly support me.

well I was going to say remuda ranch because that’s where I went, but you’ve already been there so you know about it. Do you see a therapist or anyone like that maybe they would have some recomendations about what would be best for you

Anyone have any idea how much treatment costs at Remuda Ranch (Arizona or Virginia?)?

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

Hi
I just went to Remuda in AZ last May. It was over $100,000 dollars. I mean it depends on how long they want you to be inpatient and if you do the step down program. But call them and ask about scholarship opportunities because they do offer financial help to people who really need it. I recommend checking this out because it really is a great program. It was my 3rd treatment and it helped tremendously. If you would like to talk about Remuda or anything really my e-mail address is misti1083@yahoo.com. I have been struggling with ED for 5 years now and am still fighting. But I would love to talk to you if you want to.

Remuda Ranch for bulimia?

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

I have had bulimia for a little over five years now. My parents want to send me to Remuda Ranch in hopes that I can finally get the help I need and recover. The thing is, I know people who have been to Remuda for anorexia…but I don’t really know anyone who has been for bulimia and don’t know what to expect….can anyone help? Has anyone had experience at Remuda?

Please no mean answers…this is a really touchy subject and I want serious help and answers.
I am planning on doing IOP. The thing is if I choose Remuda I HAVE to commit because of money issues.

I don’t know much about Remuda Ranch, but any eating disorder treatment center should treat bulimia as well as anorexia, or any other eating disorder for that matter. My advice would be to STAY AWAY from any of the Renfrew treatment centers.

Are you planning on doing residential treatment (RTC)? Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)? Intensive Outpatient (IOP)? Make sure you feel comfortable with the amount of patients at the program (fewer is better!) as well as the therapist you’ll be working with. You should be receiving a mixture of 1 on 1 therapy, group therapy, dietitian counseling, psychiatry, and medical care. It’s also important that the other patients are motivated to recover. P.S. I’ve heard good things about Puente De Vida – it’s a treatment center in California, as well as Center for Change in Utah.

for anyone who has been to remuda ranch…?

Friday, September 18th, 2009

just a quick question – do they allow the patients to write letters to friends?

thanks xoxo

Are you speaking of the one in Chandler, Arizona? If so, I believe you can write as well as have visitors (family I would guess), depending on the severity of your disorder and what stage of recovery you are in. I had a girl friend that went to Remuda Ranch for about 6 months.

Good Luck!

Anyone been to Remuda Ranch?

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

Has anyone ever been to Remuda Ranch for anorexia? What was it like. Can parents force you to go if you are unwilling? What types of stuff did they make you do? What did they make you eat? Did they force you to gain weight? Did they force you to have a feeding tube? Did they tell you your weight?
I have been to the hospital four times in the past 13 months each time for 3-4 months. It never works and I don’t last more then a few weeks at home before they put me back in there. They are considering Remuda Ranch and I don’t want to go but I just want to know what it’s like.

I’m sorry I never have been there. I suggest you watch videos on youtube of people talking about their experiences there. Also check out this website http://www.remudaranch.com hope this helps! =)
