Teen Eating Disorders and Hollywood’s Influence on our Children’s Image

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

Our friends in Hollywood are working hard to look and feel their best in order to entertain us. Their motivation is driven by the box office and her career. The picture that is sent our children is unrealistic and unattainable in most cases. This is not the fault of the entertainment world, it is only the subliminal message that our children will be sent.

The majority of the entertainment world is a personal trainer, fitness studios in their homes, and nutritionists. Our young adults are blind to this and in most cases call for the setting of standards should look like us.

If we only get that message to our children and educate them about the dangers of bad eating habits. You must know the importance of nutrition for cellular growth of our body. Statistically, most children who have developed an eating disorder, they experience in their pre-teen years and eight of 10 girls reported that a diet at the age of 16. Our kids are in puberty at an earlier age lately. They are less equipped to understand their changing bodies and the need for adequate nutrition.

Our inability to children like their Hollywood hero can look like they feel inadequate and adds stress to their already stressful lives. You begin to feel unhappy, as she plays the unattainable look for which a toll not reach their self-esteem. So they turn to a diet and in some cases ultimately an eating disorder.

I like going to the theater and watch the latest blockbuster just like the other guy. We can not blame Hollywood for childhood eating disorders. They are only doing their job. It is the perception that the big screen the standard of performance for our children, that needs to change sets.
