Typical of young people, often young people are looking for approval from their parents, other adults, and especially by their peers. They are also impressionable and can assimilate quickly, which can other external influences to teach them. How media can influence, teachers, representing Hollywood actors, athletes and models ideas, teen live is ultimately to. It is all well and good if these ideas are beneficial and can actually help your child’s future choices in life. However, most often than not, these ideas are uncertain and can make your child vulnerable to disease.

One such idea is the concept of linking beauty, health and athletic prowess with thinness. The media have especially models and Hollywood actors often to represent young people with role models, made the charge too much to drink and party too hard. But the most popular role models for many of those who are too little and eat too much. Sports such as gymnastics, ballet, and wrestling often emphasize the preference for thin players. These icons such as to influence them, are young people rather distorted body image and eating disorders develop, such as bulimia.

The psychology of bulimia

Bulimia, or what is commonly known as “binge-purge eating disorder and is not an isolated state. It is a common disease that can affect your teen mindset and body. Eating disorders such as bulimia not just spring from nowhere. While most teenagers often the incidence of bulimia and other eating disorders experience at the age of 11-13, have these conditions slowly build up psychologically. The bad eating habits and the obsession with weight, only the answers to what’s going on in their heads.

Giving Help

When not want outsiders – meaning the one about the disorder – who loves your teen will help you, especially when his obsession with weight and eating disturbing to see daily activities and interpersonal relationships. But you can never quite understand how to wake it feels every day and see your body and yourself as an ugly, deformed, and unworthy. You can not force your child to eat anorexic or bulimic to stop a flow – but you can show your love, they get help and support. Here’s how:

Express your concerns in “I” terms. Most parents make the mistake accused their children from eating disorders outright. Even if your child understands that he or she has a problem, make a direct accusation he or she may be defensive and angry, especially if he or she is not yet prepared to confirm the condition. Instead of saying, “You are bulimia,” try “I see, you lose a lot of weight lately and I’m getting worried.” This gives your child a chance to open up about the drastic weight loss.

Encourage them get treatment. Ask your teenager to see a doctor for the drastic weight loss. Offer support by contacting and that his medical care. Tell your child to do it, just make you worry. Once your child agrees to seek treatment, remember, even at the psychological root of the disease by seeking the help of a psychiatrist. The psychiatrist may prescribe the use of an antidepressant fluoxetine, as the positive results gained used in the treatment of eating disorders.

Regardless of how closely their actual figure resembles their perception, teenagers’ body image can affect their self-esteem, eating and exercise habits, relationships with others and ultimately their health. Using the series’ signature student-shot style, TEEN TRUTH: BODY IMAGE presents real youths, parents, physicians, physiologists, and an entertainment professional discussing how celebrity, media, sports and peer influences can shape one’s body image and ultimately lead to dangerous habits. Teasing and exclusion led Emily to develop an eating disorder and Kayla to binge eat her way to obesity; while Nolan’s desire to be bigger, stronger and faster ended in health hazards due to performance enhancing drug use. In the end, this affecting film challenges viewers to think differently about how they see their body image and the body images of others, and ultimately empowers them to find true strength and beauty from within. TEEN TRUTH: BODY IMAGE is funded in part by: The Efrain Anthony Marrero Foundation – Vacaville, California Hopewell Eating Disorder Support Center – Ottawa, Canada The Kristen Watt Foundation – Stockton, California The Taylor Hooton Foundation – Plano, Texas Proceeds from this film will go to help these non-profit organizations in their fight against eating disorders and steroid abuse.

Our friends in Hollywood are working hard to look and feel their best in order to entertain us. Their motivation is driven by the box office and her career. The picture that is sent our children is unrealistic and unattainable in most cases. This is not the fault of the entertainment world, it is only the subliminal message that our children will be sent.

The majority of the entertainment world is a personal trainer, fitness studios in their homes, and nutritionists. Our young adults are blind to this and in most cases call for the setting of standards should look like us.

If we only get that message to our children and educate them about the dangers of bad eating habits. You must know the importance of nutrition for cellular growth of our body. Statistically, most children who have developed an eating disorder, they experience in their pre-teen years and eight of 10 girls reported that a diet at the age of 16. Our kids are in puberty at an earlier age lately. They are less equipped to understand their changing bodies and the need for adequate nutrition.

Our inability to children like their Hollywood hero can look like they feel inadequate and adds stress to their already stressful lives. You begin to feel unhappy, as she plays the unattainable look for which a toll not reach their self-esteem. So they turn to a diet and in some cases ultimately an eating disorder.

I like going to the theater and watch the latest blockbuster just like the other guy. We can not blame Hollywood for childhood eating disorders. They are only doing their job. It is the perception that the big screen the standard of performance for our children, that needs to change sets.

Adolescence can be a very stressful time when people begin gaining independence and discovering who they are. The teen years are when people establish new friendships and also when they find that their body has begun to develop. When a person enters puberty, it can be a very stressful, confusing and frightening period.
A lucky few can make the transition from childhood to adulthood with no major problems. However, many who may develop a teen eating disorder as a way to cope with these changing times.
A teen eating disorder may cause someone to worry that the weight that he or she is gaining will become permanent. This can cause panic and desperate efforts to prevent or shed any weight gain. Teens may be ignorant of the fact that these physical changes will ease with time and that their weight will stabilize without the need for dieting. The teen eating disorder may also be attributed to going through puberty which is a testing time, especially if the teenager also has to undergo sexual advances.
In addition, teens may be under great pressure to perform and excel. Pressure to conform to society’s ‘ideal’ body image may lead to eating disorders. Teens see touched up pictures of models and assume they must look the same way. In an effort to become thin, teens may develop anorexia, bulemia, or other eating disorders. Many teens think that being thin leads to happiness, which can be a strong factor in eating disorders.
Another important factor that may contribute to a teen eating disorder is the home environment. Teens who are subject to emotional, physical, or sexual abuse may develop eating disorders to have control over some aspect of their lives. Teen eating disorders may also help block out painful feelings.
Schools and families can play an active role in preventing teen eating disorders. By teaching teens and families about the warning signs and problems with eating disorders, we may be able to prevent or quickly treat cases of anorexia, bulemia, and other eating disorders. Educators can also be trained to build self-esteem and show teens that they don’t have to develop an eating disorder to be successful or beautiful. Through education, prevention, and good treatment, we can get a handle on teen eating disorders.
One Common disorder is Bulimia Eating Disorder. A bulimia eating disorder is a particular kind of eating disorder in which a person eats large amounts of food in a relatively short time of time, and then purges it back up later on. Purging can be done in several methods, including: producing oneself throw up; and taking laxatives, pills, or liquids that increase how fast food moves throughout your body and leads to a bowel movement.
